Press Release Celebrant: Toni Hassett June 1st, 2006 “ Interfaith Multicultural weddings are on the rise in this Country” says Celebrant Toni Hassett. She adds that “our land of opportunity has created a diverse cultural landscape.” Some would think the blending of a couple’s family heritages as a challenge, but she explains there is a way to make both families happy and have a beautiful Ceremony. Using a Celebrant, a person trained in the art of celebration, symbolism and tradition, is the way to family bliss in ceremonies and celebrations. How do you spell family Harmony? Here are just a few things you can do to honor both side’s heritages: • Have family members from each side read a blessing or prayer from their religious tradition or poetry for those that choose a secular ceremony. • Conduct “unity” rituals from both faiths, such as sharing a cup of wine (Judaism), lighting a unity candle (Christianity), wearing crowns connected by ribbons (Greek Orthodox) or hand fasting (Celtic) or create your own personal rituals that are meaningful to you. • Provide translation of any rituals performed in traditional language
“I Love what I do” says this married mother of three from Bourbonnais, Illinois. “There is a high demand in this country for someone educated in the history, creation and performance of ceremonies.” Some of the ceremonies Toni specializes in are Traditional, Second Time around, Interfaith, Commitment and ceremonies including children. Celebrants can officiate at any milestone in someone’s life.
